‘The Folio Societys splendid new editions of the “Song of Ice and Fire” series are masterpieces of the bookmaker’s art’
  1. George R. R. Martin

Series artist Jonathan Burton has provided 12 full-page colour illustrations as well as four spectacular double-page spreads, while the interior of the slipcase hides an ominous image of Aeron Greyjoy, a priest of the Drowned God. Burton has also created a set of unique chapter-opener motifs, one for each point-of-view character, while the binding captures the conflict of a world torn apart by magic and ambition. Family trees and genealogical tables have been updated for this edition to reflect new alliances as well as births and deaths.

‘We were king’s men, knights, and heroes . . . but some knights are dark and full of terror, my lady. War makes monsters of us all.’
  1. Thoros of Myr

The war of the five kings is over, leaving the ambitious Lannisters as the power behind the throne. Yet Cersei, ruthless to her very core, still sees enemies in every shadow. With her son Tommen to protect, she will use all of the powers at her disposal to see the Lannisters roar to victory. Arya’s lonely quest has at last led her to the Faceless Men, a cult of assassins who dedicate each killing to a hungry god. But what they ask of her may be too much. If she is no longer Arya Stark, then who is she? Meanwhile, in the distant Eyrie, Sansa Stark is learning the dance of treachery and deceit that could be her key to survival in this lethal game of thrones ...

‘It has captured the imaginations of millions for the same reason the archetypal dramas of Homer, Sophocles or Shakespeare have lasted for millennia.’
  1. Guardian

Acclaimed for its battles, bloodshed and political manoeuvring,‘A Song of Ice and Fire’is also celebrated for Martin’s cast of memorable characters. Illustrating such fan favourites as Tyrion, Arya and Brienne is no mere joust in the park, but series artist Jonathan Burton has captured wildfire time and again in his work on this special collection. From the full-colour illustration of Victarion Greyjoy leaping, axe in hand, into the fray, to the thoughtfully designed symbols at the beginning of each chapter, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Burton had travelled the kingdoms of Westeros himself. With a spectacular binding representing Littlefinger’s conquest of the mighty House Arryn, this edition ofA Feast for Crowswill be the last standing on the battlefield.
